We are born, we live our lives, and eventually we die. But death is not the end. Instead, it marks the start of eternity, where our souls continue in one of two places: Heaven or Hell. In Heaven, our souls live forever with God, free from hunger, thirst, pain, or sorrow (Revelation 21:3-4). In Hell, our souls face eternal death in the Lake of Fire, where there is only great sorrow and pain (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9).
The bad news we all must face is that every human being has sinned, or broken one of God's moral laws, at some point in life (Romans 3:10-12, 23), and people whose sins are not forgiven cannot go to Heaven (Isaiah 59:2).
The good news is, God wants everyone to be with Him in Heaven forever, so He made a way for our sins to be forgiven and our eternal death sentence to Hell commuted (John 3:16). God sent His only Son Jesus to die on a cross and pay for our pardon with His own life so that everyone who chooses to follow Him will be forgiven and welcomed into Heaven (John 14:1-3)
